For Frank Asbrock, there are only bad ones, at least in the private sphere. At the Center for Criminological Research Saxony at Chemnitz University of Technology, the social psychologist and his team surveyed 5,000 people across Germany about their sense of security. 70 percent of them believe that the number of crimes has increased. Yet the figures for 90 percent of all crimes have been falling for years. Asbrock speaks of the &#8220;crime paradox&#8221;. [&#8230;] &#8220;A gun can restore a sense of control,&#8221; says Asbrock on the phone. But that doesn&#8217;t really make sense. &#8220;There is no evidence in broad research that it is good for people to arm themselves.&#8221; In any case, the number of crimes does not decrease as a result.
